Oh boy, I agree with Darren. Alex you were a very good sport! Egor you were the perfect person for her to do this outstanding sport with! Love you both. G'ma

Alex was stoic and fun :-). After some of our tough passages at sea, I figured, we both could deal with the mountain. We got our butts handed to us, however.

Wow! What an amazing adventure. It's all about the journey and not the destination. Too many people push themselves too hard and regret it. This is such a well-written story - not only about the climb but about the lessons you learned along the way.

Thanks, Darren. It was a tough track, and it left us with much to think about. But the views! They along were worth the walk.

Great story and beautiful pictures! The thought I might be able to try this stopped when you mentioned you "ran ultramarathons" so casually. 😄🙏🏻

Thank you, Paul. You should certainly try a volcano. Whether all the way or only three quarters up - the view is still well worth it!

Actually I remember we did! Sort of. We walked to the top of the “Mount Doom” volcano in New Zealand.

Mount Doom - great name! This definitely counts.

Not my name - the setting of Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings. Where the movie was filmed.

What a great read!

I’m working on a similar story about a climb my husband and I did recently in New Zealand. I am proud we didn’t reach the top.

Thank you, Claire! New Zealand has been on our list for a while. Maybe in a couple of years. I am excited to read your climbing piece :-)

What a great climbing adventure. Your guides sound very organized; that's a big plus for such an exhausting climb.

The guides were stellar! Professional, yet personable. I was quite impressed with the professionalism of workers in Chile, in general. Having spent time in Latin America, I’d say that a lax attitude is more common :-)
